BRILLIANT VICTORY FOR VORTEX AT THE KZ EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP IN SARNO
On the occasion of the last round of the KZ and KZ2 FIA Karting European Championship, on the demanding Naples International Circuit, the Vortex engines prove all their performance by gaining many victories in the heats and, above all, by winning the final of the KZ class
KZ
Our weekend of the last round of FIA Karting European Championship in KZ ends with the final victory: Vortex, actually, steps up onto the highest position of the podium with Lorenzo Camplese (SC Performance), after brilliantly standing out in each session. Camplese takes full advantage of the OTK group engines’ power not only to be unbeatable in the final, where he also centers the best lap, but also to gain the best lap in the Qualifying Practices and gets a victory during the heats, always ending in the first four.
Also Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart Racing Team) is among the most competitive Vortex: third in qualifying, the Finn wins one heat and is first at the end of the Heats thanks to two second places. Unfortunately, however, he gets out of the games too early in the final.
Top performances also for Matteo Viganò and Marco Ardigò (both Tony Kart Racing Team), always firmly in top ten in the Heats and with Ardigò reaching the third place during the final and unfortunately leaving prematurely the stage.
KZ2
It's a positive weekend also for the drivers pushed by the Vortex RSZ and RTZ engines in the KZ2 category. On such a demanding circuit from the technical point of view, the engines of the OTK group are always in the first places in the order of arrival since the Qualifying Heats. Among the best performers is David Vidales (Tony Kart Racing Team), who leads his group already in the qualifying and gains the victory in all Saturday's heats, centering a best lap too. Besides these results, he also gains the third place in the heat on Sunday morning, ended with three Vortex engines in the first three positions thanks to Alessio Piccini (Tony Kart Racing Team), first with best lap, and Paavo Tonteri (SC Performance), second.
Vidales starts from the pole position and leads the race up to two laps to go, when, involved in the brawl, he slips to the 9th final place, leaving a bad taste in his mouth considering his good performance during the whole weekend.
But the race is not lacking of satisfactions, especially by our engines, protagonists in the fight for the top positions with a great number of drivers. The before mentioned Tonteri also wins a heat, while Piccini, in addition to a second and a fourth place in the heats, is the author of a comeback of 11 positions in the final, getting very close to top ten.
Paul Evrard (Kosmic Kart Racing Department) gets a fourth and a fifth position and the third place in his qualifying heat.
