VORTEX WINS THE OKJ TITLE AT THE WSK OPEN CUP
Convincing performances for the engines of the OTK Kart Group also during the last round of the season, winning in Junior with Freddie Slater and getting the second place in OK with Norton Andreasson
OKJ - After the victory at the World Championship, Vortex and Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) are now the new champions of the 2020 edition of the WSK Open Cup as well, thanks to the victory obtained in a hard-fought final of the first round and in the first and second place recorded in the 2 prefinals. At the Adria Karting Raceway, besides Slater, two other drivers are carrying out excellent performances: Harley Keeble (Tony Kart Racing Team), seventh in the final of the first round after starting from the thirtieth place, and James Egozi (Tony Kart Racing Team), eighth in the first final and also winner of a heat on his début in the category. Top-ten also for Manuel Scognamiglio (Gamoto), who at the end of the Qualifying Heats of the second round gains the second position in the rating. Moreover, the two Pole Positions of Rintaro Sato (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) and Tobias Clausen (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) as well as the two best laps recorded by Harley Keeble and Dion Gowda (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) are signed by Vortex.
Also at the Open Cup, the Vortex DJT is the preferred engine of almost a third of the Junior driver line-up.
OK - Vortex steps up onto the podium in the OK category, where Norton Andreasson (Ward Racing) stands out with a second and third place in the two decisive races. The Swede is in the top ten also in the pre-finals and shows a great constancy in the Qualifying Heats, finishing third in the rating at the end of those valid for the second round. Great performances also for the new-entry in the category Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart Racing Team), who in the second round is third in the final and second in the Prefinal, and Charlie Wurz (Exprit Racing Team), who recovers six positions in the last final where he closes in fifth position. Charlie then recovers five positions in the final of the first round and ends in the top ten. In the group of the top ten with the Vortex DST engines we also find Alfio Spina (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Bruno Del Pino (Tony Kart Racing Team), the latter author of a comeback of ten positions in the second final and eight in the first.
MINI – At the WSK Open Cup the MINI category is back, where Cristian Costoya (Tony Kart Racing Team) manages to centre the top ten in the final of the second round and in the prefinal of the first round, signing four best laps too by making the most of the Vortex MXC. With Vortex, also Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart Racing Team), who gains a top-ten in the prefinal of the first round and recovers 8 positions in the last final.
