POLE POSITION AND SECOND POSITION FOR VORTEX IN ZUERA
At the International Circuit of Zuera, our DJT engine signs a triple victory in the OKJ qualifying heats and conquers the second place in the final with James Egozi. Joseph Turney gets very close to the podium in OK.
OKJ - The weekend of Vortex DJT engines in the "Junior" class starts with a hat-trick in the qualifying. Dmitry Matveev (Koski Motorsport) signs the pole position ahead of Maksimilian Popov (Ward Racing), second, and David Walther (Koski Motorsport), third. The excellent performances are confirmed also at the end of the qualifying heats, with four drivers in the first four positions: Walther is first with four victories, one second place and four fastest laps; Ean Eyckmans (Kosmic Racing Department) is second with one second place and two thirds; James Egozi (Tony Kart Racing Team) is third with four third places and finally, Alexander Gubenko (Tony Kart Racing Team) is fourth with two second places and one third. Joining them are also other drivers with good results: Matveev with four wins and two fastest laps; Popov with two wins and a third place; Harley Keeble (Tony Kart Racing Team) with two wins; Keanu Al Azhari (Tony Kart Racing Team) with a win and two second places; Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) with a win and a fastest lap; Maxens Verbrugge (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) with a third place; Tobias Clausen (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) with a fastest lap. In the final, with about 40% of drivers running with Vortex engines, Egozi is second at the finishing line after a nice comeback of 4 positions. Popov finishes very close to the podium, while Slater climbs of 4 positions and finishes in the Top 10. Very good comeback also for Al Azhari who, with a total of 23 positions gained, "wins" the prize for the best climber of the ranking. Scrolling down the final ranking we find Eyckmans, Enea Frey (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Dion Gowda (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Clausen, Verbrugge and Edgar Anpilogov (Ricky Flynn Motorsport). Gubenko, Matveev, Keeble and Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart Racing Team) retired.
OK - In the master class of single-speed karts, the Vortex DST engine is one of the possible aspirants for victory in the qualifying session already, where Joseph Turney (Tony Kart Racing Team) grabs the third place. After the three qualifying heats, the British driver of the Tony Kart Racing Team improves his situation in the standings by one position, also thanks to the two victories and a second place. In the final, where a quarter of the starting grid is ranked with the Vortex engines, Turney keeps in contact with the leading group and finishes fourth. Norton Andreasson (Ward Racing) shows his experience and grabs the sixth place with +7 positions gained. Good recovery also for Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart Racing Team), also in the Top 10, while Artem Severiukhin (Ward Racing) signs a comeback of 19 positions and finishes under the checkered flag in the Top 15. Continuing with the ranking, in order, we find: Caspian Hagman (Ward Racing), Andrey Zhivnov (Ward Racing), Rintaro Sato (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Luigi Coluccio (Kosmic Racing Department) and Sebastien Gravlund (Kosmic Racing Department). Edoardo Ludovico Villa (Exprit Racing Team) and Oscar Pedersen (Ward Racing) do not finish the race.
