Vortex at the start of the first round of the european champ for KZ-KZ2 classes
At the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Alcañiz, Spain, the VTZ engine is fighting for the podium in KZ class with Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart Racing Team), who unfortunately has to stop in the final.
KZ – The VTZ engine is soon among the leaders in the master class of the shifter karts. In the qualifyings Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart Racing Team) is the fourth fastest overall and collects three second places in the subsequent Qualifying Heats. Thanks to these performances, the French driver leads the intermediate ranking on Saturday running at the top of the category even at the end of the super heat, closing third.
After a good start, Leuillet is unfortunately forced to finish the final prematurely. The baton then passes to Francesco Celenta (Tony Kart Racing Team), able to recover eleven positions from the start. Marijn Kremers (Tony Kart Racing Team) is the second driver pushed by Vortex in the ranking. Lorenzo Camplese (Tony Kart Racing Team) also takes part in the last race of the weekend.
KZ2 – In the Spanish event, our VTZ engine is on the track with Nicola Rossini (Tony Kart Racing Team), author of a seventh place as best result in the qualifying heat, and Genis Civico Espona (Tony Kart Racing Team), sixth position in the B Super Heat. The Italian performs a comeback of twelve positions in the final, but unfortunately abandons the race after a collision with a driver behind him; the Spanish driver, like his teammate, retires due to an accident.
Making his way through the final is the very young David Walther (Tony Kart Racing Team): the Danish driver is the best climber of the day, with nineteen positions gained compared to his starting grid position.
KZ2 Masters – At the starting grid of the Spanish event is also the Over 35 category, which features the main novelty of this year's European Championship. Roberto Profico (Tony Kart Racing Team) is constantly at the top of the standings with the VTZ engine and hits the third place as best result in the qualifying heats as well as a fifth in the super heat on Sunday morning.
The final sees Profico fighting in the top positions and, without making any mistakes, crossing the finishing line in eighth place. After a period of inactivity lasting about twenty years, Ennio Gandolfi (Tony Kart Racing Team) is back to racing and, after climbing eight positions, comes close to a top-10 place. A collision considerably penalises the performance of Andre Nicastro (Tony Kart Racing Team), author of a fourth place in the qualifying heats. Andre and Eduardo Nicastro (both Tony Kart Racing Team) attend the last race of the weekend.
