Vortex in Sweden for the last european championship round for OK and OKJ classes

06-08-2024

After the third place at the Champions of the Future Euro Series, OTK Kart Group's 'engine division' in Kristianstad comes close to the top-3 finish in the OKJ category final with the VTJ engine.

OKJ – The Junior category gathers once more an excellent number of entrants (102) for the last event of the championship, and the VTJ engine, in such a selective class, runs until the very last for a podium place, after having finished third two weeks earlier at the Champions of the Future Euro Series. In the qualifying heats, Ilie Tristan Crisan (Tony Kart Racing Team) sets the fourth fastest time in his group and, in the subsequent qualifying heats, he achieves one victory, two third places and one fastest lap. Together with his fourth place gained in the B Super Heat, after leading the first laps, the Canadian driver is in the top-5 of the ranking.

The rain is the big protagonist on Sunday, however the VTJ unit is competitive and reliable even in these weather conditions. Witness is the rookie Crisan, author of an excellent and perfect start in the final and running the whole race for third place. After having gained 16 positions between eliminatory and qualifying heats and having closed the Sunday morning warm-up in first place, Scott Marsh (Tony Kart Racing Team) finishes the race among the top ten classified. However, a collision in the opening lap does not allow Joel Pohjola (Tony Kart Racing Team) to aim for a formidable result.

The Vortex VTJ engine closes the European Championship with better and better results, after having collected a podium in the final of the previous round in Slovakia, as well as a success and a fastest lap in the super heats and a first place, two top-3s and a best lap in the eliminatory heats.

FIA Karting Academy Trophy - The one-make championship promoted by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), which sees on track the Vortex Engines - Exprit Kart technical package, alike for all drivers, was held its last round in Sweden. Among the 42 drivers on track, the winner is Dan Allemann (Switzerland), ahead of Gilles Herman (Belgium), second position and 2024 category champion, other than Fredrik Flood-Engebretsen (Norway), third.
