Vortex: two wins in UK and Italy
At the final round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series in Brandon, the VTJ engine triumphs in the OKJ category final. At the WSK Super Cup in Franciacorta, the VTM unit is crowned champion in the MINI Gr.3 U10 class and finishes third in the MINI Gr.3.
OKJ – Vortex closes the championship in the best possible way in the “Junior” category with as many as 114 drivers at the starting grid - thanks to the victory in Sunday afternoon's final gained by Scott Marsh (Tony Kart Racing Team). The British driver, powered by the VTJ engine, opens the weekend with the best time in Group 4 of the qualifying heats and hits five podiums in the following qualifying heats. At the end of the super heats, Marsh is among the top six in the overall standings.
The final sees the Tony Kart Racing Team's driver at the lead from the early stages: after just two laps he runs at the lead and, in the following laps, shows off excellently. Keeping calm and without making any mistakes, the young ace of the Italian team triumphs under the checkered flag and gives the second championship success to Vortex, after the one gained in the second event in Val d'Argenton, with Joel Pohjola (Tony Kart Racing Team).
Just the Finnish driver, due to an unhappy qualifying, starts the weekend climbing the standing. After very good performances in the heats, he performs a very good comeback in the last and decisive race of the weekend: with 19 positions gained compared to the start, he reaches the top-10 final. Ilie Tristan Crisan (Tony Kart Racing Team), author of a second place in Group 2 of the timing practices, also attends the final.
OK – More than 100 entrants take part in the “Senior” category, in which the VTS engine achieves a top-3 and two fastest laps in the qualifying heats. The final sees David Walther (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart Racing Team) at the starting grid, who make some interesting results in view of the FIA Karting World Championship.
MINI Gr.3 U10 - Right from the start, the VTM engine is one of the main candidates for the final victory. Three wins and a third place come in the qualifying heats with Jean Poujol (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Victor Thomas Gorun (Real Racing) securing the second row on the grid for the last race of the weekend.
When the lights go out in the final, Poujol moves to second place, while Gorun climbs to third after two laps. Both drivers equipped with the VTM unit are battling for the lead of the race, but it is the French driver who starts the attack on the last lap: in fact, in the hairpin bend preceding the finish line, he overtakes the momentary race leader preceding him in the final sprint with a lead of 0.026 seconds. The Romanian one, however, finishes at the foot of the podium by just 0.050 seconds.
The final sees three more drivers lined up at the start with OTK Kart Group's “engine division” units: Li Linghan (Tony Kart Racing Team), Henri Mohring (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Tiberius Müller (Tony Kart Racing Team).
MINI Gr.3 – the VTM engines takes the bronze medal in the 2024 edition of the WSK Super Cup. The Vortex engine totals a haul of one win, three podiums and three fastest laps in the qualifying heats, plus a win and a second place in the B prefinal.
The starting grid for the final sees Leonardo Gorski (Tony Kart Racing Team) in second and Oliver Sini (Tony Kart Racing Team) in fifth. At the start, the Indonesian driver jumps to third place after a few meters, followed by his Polish teammate. Several times Sini takes over the reins of the race and, in a photo-finish, closes third, with Gorski ranked fourth. Edoardo Colucci (Tony Kart Racing Team) is the third driver attending the final with the Vortex VTM engine.
