The chain must always be well lubricated and you should know its life (when it has been mounted and how many times it has been used). This information should be written in a separate sheet, as a reminder. By doing this the risk of breakdown is not cancelled but the possibilities drop drastically. Breaking a chain during a test session is an acceptable risk, in racing an unsustainable luxury.
